Another good win last week all be it against the weakest team in the division. A good game that I really enjoyed watching, looking back the best thing was you were all really committed and everyone contributed, even when they equalised we didn’t panic and over commit as we have in the past we just played better football, communicated and trusted each other to do their jobs. I think this shows the team maturing and believing in each other, I also think this is the first time we’ve had 4 goals from 4 different players, keep it up and we’ll all be pleased.

Tim’s cameo in goal to resurrect the old Div3 starting line up in Div1brought a tear to the eye’s of the Tartan Army, first game back for a year and a half and made a great return, his distribution was first class, the ball being really zipped out to feet (are you listening Cat Flap) and even managed an outstanding save. Congratulations well done and thank you. Trumpton (The Deserter) had another good game and did what he does best, breaking up play and knitting the moves together though I’m beginning to wonder if his mind has already Wandered to Wycombe as he looked a little tired, even so he managed to score and do what we’ve come to expect without raising himself to the heights of the past 4 or 5 weeks. Bungle had a great game and played selflessly for the team by sticking doggedly to the tasks set, even though he didn’t get forward as much as he’d like Bungle got his goal and continued to do whatever was needed and worked tirelessly, putting in strong tackles, tracking runners and making vital interceptions, super showing. Longballdie had a cracking game read the situations and mopped up the dangers with some crunching tackles and timely interceptions, especially in the 2nd half. He seems to of gathered an extra yard of pace, even managing to create Stops goal with a magnificent defensive header and 2nd half Gary relished in his preferred ball over the top to Shaggy. Shaggy played well and that little bit of extra positional nous when playing at the back or midfield will come with games. By playing Shaggy at the back first half we took the energy out of their attack and 2nd half he really stretched them up front offering that extra pace when they were tiring and combining neatly with both full back and the midfield. Stops had a great game, good touch and he linked everything and scored a wonderful strikers goal. What stood out for me was his commitment and improving fitness, when moves broke down and we were at sixes and sevens Stops tracked runners all the way to make the tackle then worked hard to get back up field to support the counter or fill in till we could reorganise. Dorothy Perkins made a real good showing 2nd half, played with extra commitment, had some lovely touches and was at the centre of our best two moves. I hope were only seeing 70% of what he can do and with more game time I reckon he’ll find it easier to knit with the team and extra fitness will improve awareness. That said I’d still like to see a little bit more bite around the ball, especially the 50 50’s.

Congratulations all The Tartan Army
