A fairly tight game interrupted briefly for a floodlight failure. We took the lead quite early on when Chris stole the ball and sent Dave through on goal to make a clean finish low into the corner. There were relatively few chances on either side and it was difficult to keep posession on the icy surface. George and Ashley kept it tight at the back, Steve worked tirelessly and Ed made important stops to keep us ahead.
The second half was much the same, and when they had a guy sent off with 5 minutes to go the match was all but over. The enduring memory is of George collecting the ball in their half with the pitch wide open, surging forward purposefully, the ball sitting up perfectly as he smashed it goalwards. When it hit the fence I thought it must have gone through the net, but alas, no.
