With the Knights looking to go top of the league they started the game fairly brightly. Against the team joint on points and with the same goal difference this was a must win game. With a lot pressure from the opposition they needed a goal to settle the nerves. The goal came 15 minutes into the half after a great bulid up from the team, with each player touching the ball numerous times. It was played out wide and a precise cross to Chris who buried it hard and low into the corner of the goal gave the knights the lead. The half time whistle went with the knights leading by one goal to nil. They came out ready for what ever was thrown at them. One of those things was an awful lot of pressure from AFFC which led to an equaliser a good finish from their forward it was game on. When the team create chances they always come close and that was proved when they hit the bar and the post. From the shot from Chris Howarth hitting the post he was unlucky but from the rebound George scored a screamer on the half volley. A shot smashed into the bottom corner gave the knights the lead again with about 10 minutes to go. The Knights needed to secure the win by getting a third. That came a few minutes later with Steve getting played through he had to stay calm and finish from a fairly hard angle. But making it look easy firing off the underside of the bar and into the corner he had finished AFFC off. A thoroughly deserved win meant with earlier results going their way they had gone top of the league for first time this season.
The start of a good report there.
Excellent report James, Well Done!
The best this year - James can be our roving reporter every week!
Great stuff James ...although I have to say that like your old man you do look at the game through claret and blue tinted spectacles at times !!
