Match Report
A difficult game for various reasons. One was that we didn't keep any shape and also Steve Nic got concussion.
At the start we were quite lively and they ran round a lot. After about 10 minutes Chris M played in Chris H who took it to the edge of the area before slipping the ball under the keeper for 1-0. Slightly against the run of play a defensive blunder (no names, though he's probably forgotten anyway) let them in for their first goal, This was fairly quickly followed by a second again out of nothing. Shortly before the interval the Chris H slid the ball through to Chris M who finished in almost a cabon copy of the first. 2-2 felt like they had more than they deserved.
The second half saw them coming on a bit stronger. A free kick 5 yards outside the area was deflected into the corner off the wall to take use 3-2 down. They had a few shots and Barry did really well keeping them out. We were chasing around and a little unstructured for this part of the match, but Chris M made a good finish from the left to put us level. A move down the right ended with Chris H playing a 1-2 with Steve N and driving the ball underneath the keeper to take us up 4-3 with 6 minutes to go. We defended resolutely and when Steve N went up to head a bouncing ball the clash left both men on the ground. After a while Steve got up and staggered back "as if he's had 10 pints of 49-er" quipped Gary. We held on for the last few minues for another 3 points.
Steve had concussion and memory loss, which was probably a good thing considering the way we had to hang on for the last few minutes.

Sounds like we were desperate....I don't think we were that bad although I agree about the poor shape at times. We looked much better when we began to get behind the ball when they attacked.
Playing 3-1-1 suited them and gave them a great deal of space in midfield. I understand the reason for the tactics and this was probably right in the circumstances although in hindsight 2-2-1 would probably have seen us dominate for longer periods.
Well done all. Onwards and upwards
