Match Report
Cracking performance, particularly in the first half where created a hat full of chances and restricted them to very little. Had a perfectly good goal disallowed because the ref did not see the ball go 3 foot over the goal line – maybe we need goal line technology! Took the lead with a well-worked goal. Chris Mills found Chris Howarth on the edge of the box; Chris turned and slotted the ball in the corner giving the keeper no chance – one up at half time.

More pressure 2nd half and the lead was doubled when Chris Mills slipped the ball inside to Steve Nic. Steve was about to fire the ball into the top corner when Steve Pugh took it off his toe. Steve Pugh fluffed his shot but fortunately the keeper was expecting a bullet from Steve Nic into the corner and was taken by surprise by Mr Pugh’s tame effort and fumbled the ball into the net.

As you would expect, Joga put us under a little bit of pressure 2nd half and got a goal back, but we held on for a thoroughly deserved win.

Steve Pugh and Paul were solid at the back, Barry was his usual secure self and pulled off a couple of fine saves when needed, Steve Nic and Chris Howarth were industrious in the middle with Chris creating lots of chances, it can be only a matter of time before he bags a hatful and Chris Mills just keeps getting better every game he plays. Chris’s ability to hold the ball up and bring his teammates into play is now tremendous. On top of this he tirelessly shut down both fullbacks and made it easy for the rest of the team to defend. Clive came on 2nd half and did a good job of shutting down their midfield and closing the game out.

AFC Gills in the next round – we owe them!

Excellent game; the best passing game we have played all season.
Everyone had a good game but special mention has to go to Shaggy who has really come on as a team player. He's always been skilful but a bit like Ronaldo where the end product didn't quite match the rest of his game. Now he is invaluable and links really well with the rest of the team. Also Grif had a good game with some rock solid tackling backed up by great penetrating runs into the opposition half.
Good stuff, let's keep it going.
