This was a very enjoyable game which was quite physical without being dirty. In the final analysis we thought that we deserved to win on the balance of scoring opportunities .
We were passing and keeping the ball quite well considering the blustery and wet conditions. In the first ten minutes we pressed and looked increasingly likely to score while their attacks were thwarted by the solid defending of Steve P and Paul at the back and the sure hands of stand-in goalie Andy. After around 15 minutes the first goal came. A throw on the left was knocked inside back to Chris H who drove a powerful shot into the right hand corner. A couple of minutes later they achieved parity with a headed goal from a corner! The ball was swung in and Steve N was unable to get in front of a tall, powerful player who headed it into the unguarded goal after Andy was unable to intercept the floated cross.

The second half continued in much the same vein. Andy made a couple of sharp saves and Chris M was as usual running his socks off and doing a superb job of collecting and holding onto balls played upfield from the back. We had a number of opportunities and should really have taken the lead a couple of times.

In the end it was a very good game and a draw was ok, but a little dissapointing not to be able to stick in the winner.
