A really good game against the best team in the league. The game started off at lightening pace, them scoring from a hastily-taken corner after about a minute, then Chris M equalising a minute later with a superb left-foot piledriver. They scored again to make it 2-1 in the 3rd minute and the game calmed down a bit - both teams settling. George did a fantastic job keeping their lively attackers quiet - no Baz this time, thankfully but their best players Welchy and Al were up for it from the start. Alex was playing his first game back and did really well receiving and keeping the ball. Mike and Chris M were breaking up play in the middle and storming forward. Shortly before half time we broke in numbers and Mike completed the move with a difficult shot to draw level. Just before half time a mistake by Chris H allowed them to break through and score to take it into half time 3-2 to Alderholt.
We played really well in the early second half, pressing high and creating a few half chances, whilst restricting theirs. We got a deserved equaliser when Alex was put through by Chris M and he finished smartly. We continued pressing but no luck. Right at the death they broke behind our defence and the ball was laid to their Al right in front of goal but Ed made a fantastic save to smother it out for a corner. All in all, probably a draw was deserved, but we all felt we could have snatched a win.
