The game started with them only having 5 players on the pitch so we switched to a more attacking formation from the start. Unfortunately our passing was as wayward as our shooting and they had a full contingent by the time we started playing well. We had the greater possession and created a few chances. On about 10 minutes Dave placed a perfectly weighted ball through to Chris to drive a powerful shot into the net. We had a couple more chances and Ed made a couple of fine saves. Unfortunately after Jack had done some great work he pulled a hamstring, effectively putting him out of the game. We were slightly under the cosh for the last couple of minutes before half time but we held on to 1-0 with George and Mike bossing the back line.
We regrouped and Jack went beyond the call of duty by hobbling on the edge of their penalty box to distract their back player and collecting the ball if we played it up there. George and Mike stayed solid and Ed made some more fine saves to keep us ahead before Dave again played in Chris down the right to place a neat shot past the keeper (outside of the boot, not a toe punt thank you Gary). They ran out of steam and we could have extended the lead before the final whistle.
