We were all over them in the first half, Chris H hit the bar, Chris M hit the post and we had loads of shots. They scored against the run of play with a breakaway which we should have cleared, but we were not worried because we were so dominant. We levelled it wih a slightly bizarre own goal, headed by their player from well outside the box.
In the second half we were rightly awarded a penalty when Chris M was scythed from behind and Chris H stuck in the penalty.
It wen downhill from there thanks mainly to the old duffer of a referee.
Chris M scored a nice goal and as we were all making our way back to the centre the referee blew saying it was a free kick and that Chris entered the penalty area. Both teams were a little confused for a while, but only marginally so compared to how confused the ref appears to be the whole time. Chris was probably about 6 feet outside the box, but it was still disallowed. The ref carried on giving random free-kicks and throw-ins to whoever picked the ball up first, and gave them 2 free kicks just outside the box, both of which they scored from directly. We hit the woodwork 3 more times (Steve P, Chris M & Chris H) and got increasingly frustrated. They put in one more near the end as we pressed for an equaliser.
Gutted.
