The first half was high-tempo and Joga were more in control, though created few chances. Good to see Tim again and he did really well in goal for his first game back in a long while.
Both sides had a couple of half chances but Joga were stronger in posession. A throughball took an unfortunate (for us) deflection into the path of their striker towards the end of the half leaving Tim with no chance. Chris M worked tirelessly in midfield and Ben was providing a good outlet, but we found it difficult to keep the ball in their half. An unfortunate and unusual mistake right on the half time whistle gave them another goal. They probably deserved the lead at this point, but were fortunate to be 2 up.
We altered formation after the break, pushing Chris H into midfield. They sat back a bit more to defend the lead and we started to get much more of the ball in their half. Gary made up for his earlier error by placing a delightful throughball to Chris H who curled it into the near corner. Shortly after, Chris M intercepted a bad pass right on the edge of the area and slotted the ball under the advancing keeper. Steve N and Gary kept them out and Tim made a couple of good stops. We kept up the momentum and may have gone on to win it with a bit of luck.
