Another tough game against Fash, but we deserved the victory, probably a little more than the scoreline suggests. They are young, fit and fast but we kept our discipline and limited their attacks.
A defensive mistake led to their striker breaking through and hitting a well struck shot into the corner giving Barry no chance. We fought back immediately and some superb interchanges between Chris M and Alex ended with the latter directing a precise finish past their keeper. We had a couple more chances, with Steve N and Chris H supporting down the wings and Gary keeping their attacks under control in the middle.
In the second half were were even tighter, and we had a couple more chances to take us clear but didn't convert. They started getting a bit niggly with Alex and Chris M bearing the brunt of some ugly challenges, but all credit to them as they stayed calm and largely came out with the ball. They were close in one attack which Barry tipped onto the bar and he made another good save earlier. Chris H had 2 good chances to put the game beyond doubt, but failed to hit the target.
Special mention today goes to both Chris M and Alex who put their defence under tremendous pressure and also for the way they got up and carried on like nothing had happened when their legs were whipped away by the Fash defenders (with little protection from the ref).
